Board of Governors

We are currently seeking local people who could become voluntary (unpaid) members of Doncaster YMCA’s Board of Governors.

Qualities of a Governor

We don't look for any special qualifications, and we welcome people from a range of backgrounds.

You should be interested in helping to shape services for young people, particularly young adults with additional support needs.

The YMCA has a commitment to equality and diversity, and Governors are at the heart of that commitment.

Governors work in partnership with senior staff; our Chief Executive is responsible for putting plans into action, and for overseeing the day-to-day work.

The Role

Governors meet every couple of months. Our meetings are usually held on Wednesday evenings from 7pm. Meetings focus on current policies and finances, along with setting out plans and strategies for the future.

We also meet occasionally for training events, and to focus on our forward planning work.

Where we hold special events to celebrate our work, young people always appreciate the encouragement of our Governors.

Joining the Board of Governors

If you feel able to offer your time, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Those who apply have an informal interview with existing Governors, and decisions on whether to co-opt are taken at the next meeting. To request an application pack, please contact Louise Roffey on 01302 342148.
